Frequently Asked Questions

What is this site?

This is a non-commercial, non-political neighborhood service directory.

Its purpose is to help people find nearby individuals and businesses that offer useful skills and services.

Does the site sell services?

No.

The site only provides listings and contact information. Customers and service providers make their own arrangements directly.

Does the site charge fees or commissions?

No.

The site does not charge commissions, process payments, or collect a percentage of transactions.

Who can be listed?

Listings may include individuals, small businesses, independent contractors, and other local service providers.

The goal is to emphasize useful services available to people in the surrounding community.

How do I contact a service provider?

Use the contact information shown on the provider's page.

The site does not normally act as an intermediary between customers and providers.

Does the site recommend or guarantee providers?

No.

A listing does not mean that the site guarantees, endorses, licenses, or insures the provider.

Users should make their own decisions about qualifications, pricing, references, insurance, and other concerns before hiring anyone.

Why do some pages say they were generated by AI?

Most listings are created by using AI to read and summarize information from a provider's public website.

The source website is identified on the listing.

Because websites and business information can change, users should consult the provider's own website for current and authoritative information.

Can service providers edit their own listings?

Technically, we could allow authorized users to edit listings directly through DokuWiki.

DokuWiki works somewhat like Wikipedia: authorized users can click Edit, change the page, and save it without needing to know HTML or programming.

We won't enable such direct editing unless we feel the security problems could be solved.

Can I help with the site?

Yes.

Collaborators are welcome. Help may include finding service providers, improving listings, reviewing information, organizing categories, testing the site, or helping with technical work.

Is political content allowed?

No.

The site is intended to remain non-political and focused on practical neighborhood services.
